STOCKHOLM Notorious drunk drivers in Stockholm will be stopped. The police will pin point 62 people who have repeatedly been caught driving under the influence of alcohol, without a drivers license or are under influence of drugs.
The number of repeat traffic offenders has increased in recent years in Stockholm. But so far, it has been difficult to get them to improve.
– If those people are stopped in a random routine check, they can say that they dont care and are out driving again the day after. Now we want to get them off the streets, says Johan Kust of the Police traffic division in Stockholm city, to Metro.
They will be identified, monitored harder when driving and their vehicles will be confiscated. But they will also be offered support for drug treatment. This action will be taken against both serious criminals and ordinary people with alcohol problems.
